We’re excited to share what we have planned for 2026 at Bayou Gundog — the upcoming litters we’re breeding, what makes each pairing special, and what hopeful puppy owners can expect.
On our 2026 Planned Litters page, you’ll find three carefully planned pairings, each designed to produce puppies with strong natural ability, great temperament, and versatility in both the field and at home.
This cross unites two experienced retrievers with proven hunt test performance and real-world hunting success.
We expect puppies from this litter to inherit natural marking ability, solid water skills, and calm, trainable temperaments — perfect for hunting homes, field trials, or as loyal family companions.
A first-time pairing for these two, but both bring excellent records in hunt tests and a history of producing mature, stable off-spring.
The resulting pups should have strong hunt-test potential, early maturity, and a balance of drive and composure — ideal for active hunters or families wanting a well-rounded retriever.
This litter combines two water-driven, bird-instinctive dogs bred for performance. With very low COI (inbreeding coefficient), we’re emphasizing both health and working potential.
Expect athletic, water-loving pups with natural bird drive, trainability, and the kind of balanced temperament that makes them good working dogs and good household companions.
At Bayou Gundog, we believe in responsible, intentional breeding — not just for performance, but for health, temperament, and long-term value. That’s why each pairing for 2026 was chosen to produce retrievers who are:
Excellent in hunting, retrieving, and water work
Smart, trainable, and eager to please
Balanced enough for a home environment as well as the field
Genetically sound with attention to pedigree and health
