Female Field Golden Retriever puppies February 24
Newborn Field Golden puppies February 24

This post is part of Bonnie’s pregnancy journey. You can read her pregnancy confirmation post here.

In the quiet hours of the morning, while most of the world was still asleep, Bonnie welcomed her final litter into the world.

Her first puppy arrived at 10:47 PM on February 23th, and by 1:49 AM February 24, she had delivered eight healthy, beautiful puppies, six girls and two boys. It was smooth, calm, and completely textbook from start to finish. Bonnie handled everything exactly the way she always has: steady, capable, and confident. She didn’t need any help. She just did what she was made to do.

There is something so special about those late-night whelpings. The house is quiet, the lights are low, and every tiny newborn squeak feels magnified. Eight little lives entered the world in just a few short hours, and we are so grateful for how perfectly it all went.

This litter gave us six sweet girls and two handsome boys. The biggest puppy of the night was our black collar boy, strong and solid right from the start. The tiniest of the group was our orange collar girl, small but mighty and already nursing like a champ. Watching their little personalities begin to peek through, even in these first hours, never gets old.

Bonnie is doing amazing. As always, she has fully stepped into motherhood with calm devotion. She is attentive, nurturing, and completely in tune with her babies. If you’ve followed our program for any length of time, you know what an exceptional mom she has been for us over the years.

And that’s what makes this litter bittersweet.

This will be Bonnie’s final litter before retiring from our breeding program. She has given us so much,  not just incredible puppies, but consistency, reliability, and the kind of steady temperament that shapes a program for the better. Watching her mother this last group feels both joyful and tender. We’re soaking in every minute.

The puppies are strong, nursing well, and settling in beautifully. Over the next few days we’ll continue monitoring weights closely and making sure everyone stays on track, but they are off to a wonderful start.

These puppies are expected to go home around April 18th, and we will be sharing regular updates as they grow, eyes opening, first wobbly steps, and all the sweet milestones in between.

We may potentially have a few girls available from this litter, but that is still to be determined. As always, we’ll communicate clearly as we evaluate the group over the coming weeks.

For now, we’re savoring the quiet newborn stage. The soft grunts. The tiny paws. The peaceful moments in the whelping room in the early morning hours.

Bonnie, you’ve done it again, beautifully and effortlessly.

Welcome to the world, little ones. We can’t wait to watch you grow.
