It’s hard to believe these little ones are already three weeks old. If you missed the beginning of this journey, you can read about Ghillie’s pregnancy confirmation here and see their official puppy announcement here.
Ghillie’s babies are officially three weeks old, and they have changed so much this past week!
Every single puppy is now over 3 pounds and they are little fatties in the best way. Thick, healthy, and thriving exactly how we love to see them.
They are walking around confidently now, exploring their space and interacting more with each other every day. It’s amazing how quickly they go from sleepy newborns to curious little puppies with opinions.
This is one of my favorite stages.
We’re starting to see:
The confident explorer
The easygoing cuddler
The vocal one
The quiet observer
It’s still early, but their sweet personalities are definitely beginning to peek through and they are so cute it’s almost unfair.
Ghillie is doing a wonderful job, and her babies are thriving.
This stage is when interaction really starts to matter.
Our kids are absolutely loving this phase and they’re soaking up every bit of puppy snuggles they can get. To make sure we’re being intentional (and fair!), we have a chart on the wall where we track daily handling and cuddle time so that each puppy receives equal opportunity snuggles every single day.
It may seem simple, but consistent, positive human interaction at this age plays a huge role in building confident, people-focused dogs.
And let’s be honest… no one in this house is complaining about mandatory puppy cuddles.
On Sunday, the puppies moved into their upgraded setup!
Their new space now includes:
Turf litter trays to begin early potty training exposure
Fresh puppy toys for stimulation
Soft, comfy beds (which they absolutely love lounging on)
You’ll find them piled together in a cozy heap one minute… and stretched out individually like royalty the next.
This week we officially began the early stages of weaning.
The puppies have started eating “mash,” which is their puppy food soaked in goat’s milk and softened to a very mushy consistency so it’s easy for them to lap up. It’s always a messy stage, but such an important one!
They’re figuring it out quickly and diving in with enthusiasm. Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll gradually thicken the consistency as they become more confident eaters and more independent from Ghillie.
Ghillie is still doing a wonderful job, but this is the natural next step as they continue to grow.
The next few weeks are some of the most important in a puppy’s development.
Here’s what we’ll be introducing soon:
• New surfaces – different textures under their feet to build confidence
• Gentle sound exposure – normal household noises and early desensitization
• Expanded play areas – more room to explore as mobility increases
• Even more human interaction – building positive associations with handling
• Continued potty exposure – reinforcing the turf litter habit
This is when their brains are growing rapidly, and we’re intentional about using this window well. Our goal is confident, stable, adaptable puppies that transition smoothly into your homes.
We’re so proud of this litter and excited to watch them continue to grow.
More updates soon 🐾
